Frayed Continuum, Hurricanes (Delhi)

Two discarded architectural fragments, previously used as brackets between the wall and ceiling, create this work. Both ornaments are from buildings in India, one is approximately 90 and the other 50 years old, both move on their separate orbits, partly constrained by the movement coded into the mechanism that creates occasional disruptions and pauses.

Referring to our present moment of continued divisive political rhetoric, and given the symbolism of the forms within nationalist discourse, the movements layer and collapse the two elements, with time and continued collision resulting in an alteration or erasure of their forms, chipping away the histories they embody.
